FdSc Cyber and Computer Security
What will I study?
Our FdSc (Hons) Cyber Security course will prepare you to become a successful security specialist. You will study security policies, legal and regulatory requirements, risk and vulnerability assessment, security architecture and development, information assurance methodologies, ethical hacking and incident management. You will also be able to understand security issues, as well as critically analysing and evaluating responses to security-related problems. This FdSc is designed for providing students with the fundamental skills for employment.
Study style and course content:
Our higher apprenticeship in information security has been developed with a particular focus on applied and interdisciplinary skills for industry. These are acquired through a mix of learning in the workplace and formal classroom training, combined with the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real-world context.
This Foundation Degree offers a flexible approach to study, so specific study arrangements will be agreed with you and your employer. However, typically this apprenticeship is delivered over two years and includes a number of on-site taught modules lasting for three hours each. The structure of the sessions will vary but would usually involve a one hour theory session / software demonstration, followed by a practical session where you will undertake guided activities.

Fundamentals of programming
System design and development
Network security and design
Enterprise systems development
IT support workers
On completion of this Foundation Degree you will have had strong practical training and the subject specific expertise that will increase your employability prospects. Students will also be able to apply for the one year Level 6 top-up at the University of Gloucestershire to complete their full BSc.
