Summary

Please note, this is a fully online course and you will be given access to an online portfolio upon successful completion of the initial assessment process.

People in the UK now have an average life expectancy of 72 years. The population aged 65 years and over is now growing faster than the working age population aged 16 to 64 years; but not everyone remains healthy throughout.

This course is suitable for a wide range of learners who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of working with the elderly. It may be useful as an introduction for those who wish to pursue a career in working in elderly care settings, and those wishing to expand on their existing knowledge.

The course is split into six units:

Unit 1: Principles of elderly care in the UK

Unit 2: Maintaining health and well-being in elderly care

Unit 3: Common health issues affecting individuals in elderly care

Unit 4: Individual rights in elderly care

Unit 5: Minimising risk in elderly care

Unit 6: Communication in elderly care

How will I learn?

Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study, giving you the freedom to choose your learning schedule yourself whilst still gaining certification for your chosen subject.

We recommend spending a minimum of 2-4 hours per week on this course and we recommend completing within 12 weeks.

We appreciate this may be a new way of learning for many of you or there may be some further support required. If you find yourself feeling less than confident and look for additional support, we want to make sure we are there to offer that little bit extra and tailor it to your needs. This may include a phone call or emails with one of our dedicated tutors and support staff to help guide you through your course.
