This Level 1 course is based at our Filton campus, located in South Gloucestershire which is easily accessible from the city of Bristol by train (Bristol Parkway / Bristol Abbey Wood) and bus.
What do I need to join?
As well as having a keen interest in the subject area, learners will need to possess a GCSE grade 3 in English and grade 2 in Maths. Learners will need to be committed, punctual and demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning and taking on new ideas and skills.
Previous work
Maths & English
A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and maths.
Learners who are enrolled on this course will also, as part of their overall programme of study, be enrolled on either Functional Skills or GCSE programmes in English and Maths in order to progress towards gaining GCSE grade 4 in both subjects.
Work Experience
A key component of all Programmes is that learners will undertake a Work Placement. This is crucial as it allows learners to parctice new knowledge, skills and behaviours in an employment setting. Learners will receive help in securing their Work Placement through our Work Placement Team here at SGS, who will work with employers to ensure that all relevant Health & Safety, relevant insurances and safeguarding measures are in place.
What can I do next?
Learners who successfully complete this L1 Programme will be eligible for progression onto a Level 2 programme in that pathway, GCSE Plus, or an apprenticeship in a related discipline.
