Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

Discover offers FREE Maths course and day trip for the over fifties.

We are excited to once again offer you the chance to join us on our Discover course.

Held over three days, our free Discover course will see you explore an exciting location whilst gaining a qualification in Maths. The study days for this course are carried out our Stroud Campus which is located in the centre of Gloucestershire and not far away from Stroud train station and easily accessible by bus. For the days learners are on campus, free a light lunch is provided.

Past learners have said the study time helped increase their confidence in maths and was delivered in a relaxed environment with like-minded people, and that the day trip was just the icing on top. The day trip will see you and your peers driven by coach to the Royal Horticultural Society's Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival to wander around at your leisure taking in the wonderful show gardens plants and flowers. You can also enjoy various demonstrations, talks and music from some popular tv personalities. The coach and entrance ticket are all included.

"There is encouraging evidence that learning helps people stay healthier and happier for longer. Now more than ever we need to connect with others, explore new places and discover new interests." - Sarah Kopera (Head of SGS Life)
