Summary

Discover offers FREE Maths or English course and day trip for the over fifties.

We recognise how difficult the last year has been for many people in lockdown and so many have been isolated from the outside world with little or no social interaction. With government's roadmap commencing and easing of restrictions, we are excited to offer you the chance to join us on our Discover course. With your safety of paramount importance and exercising all nescessary precaustions, we offer you a chance to meet new people, see new places, and gain a qualification.

Held over five days, our free Discover course will see you explore an exciting location and gaining a qualification in either English or Maths. The study days for this course are carried out at either our Stroud or Wise Campus depending on chosen dates. Our Stroud Campus is located in the centre of Gloucestershire which is moments away from Stroud train station and easily accessible by bus. Our Wise Campus is located in Stoke Gifford, Bristol. This is a short walk from Parkway and Abbeywood train station, with a number of bus stops near. For the days learners are on campus, free lunch is provided.

Past learners have said this was the best part of the course, increasing their confidence and self-esteem, and the day trip was just the icing on top. The day trip will see you and your peers driven by coach to one of the exciting venues around the region*. Whether you are a history enthusiast or a green-fingered gardener, you will find an experience that is right for you and have lots of fun at the same time.

"There is encouraging evidence that learning helps people stay healthier and happier for longer. Now more than ever we need to connect with others, explore new places and discover new interests." - Sarah Kopera (Head of Adult Community Learning)

*SGS College will continue to follow Government guidelines. We also understand that some learners may be nervous and may not wish to participate in the day trip, so a gift voucher will be offered instead.
