Summary

This qualification is designed to enable learners to enter the exciting world of the beauty therapy industry. It provides learners with the opportunity to learn in our professional salons. You will also have the chance to take part in trips, enrichment activities and work experience within the hair and beauty sector. and participate in competitions. Learners will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience that is required to progress towards careers as a mobile therapist, spa therapist and beauty salon therapist. Core and additional units you will study throughout the year Manicure Pedicure Facial therapy Promotion and sales Application of make-up. Eye treatments Waxing Professionalism, retail and employability skills Realistic commercial salon environment

Entry Requirements

Learners will possess 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths, and also be able to demonstrate good communication skills.

Maths & English

A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and maths. Learners who are enrolled on this course will also, as part of their overall programme of study, be enrolled on either Functional Skills or GCSE programmes in English and Maths in order to progress towards gaining GCSE grade 4 in both subjects.

Work Experience

As part of your overall programme of study, learners will be required to undertake a period of work placement related to the field of employment they wish to enter. Our Work Placement Team will assist learners in gaining a placement and ensure that you are on track to achieve, whilst liaising with your course tutors to ensure that the opportunity to practice necessary employability skills is available at college.

What can I do next?

Upon successful completion of this qualification, and by meeting the required progression criteria, learners may progress to the Level 3 qualification at SGS which will provide you with further training and experience and equip you with the additional skills that are required to work in this exciting industry. Alternatively, learners can apply for an apprenticeship in a related field.
