How do the Sports Academies work alongside this course?

Learners are able to access Sports Academies whilst studying at SGS College on a full-time course. Your academic studies and academy training work as a partnership, and as such, are never timetabled at the same time. This allows you to continue your development within your selected sporting discipline, whilst studying in an academic area that interests you. For example, a learner may have lectures on a Monday morning and then Academy training at WISE on a Monday afternoon.

It is not compulsory to be in an Academy to study a Sports qualification at SGS College.

What do I need to join?

Applicants will require three GCSEs at grade 4, which must include a grade 4 in either English or maths. The applicant will have the opportunity to retake a GCSE qualification in either English or maths alongside their qualification, to give them an opportunity to achieve a 4 grade in the subject.

How will I learn?

This Level 3 course is based at our dynamic and exciting WISE Campus, located within easy reach of the city of Bristol and moments away from Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood train stations.

This programme is 100% coursework based. We assess learners using a number of different methods, allowing learners to enhance these types of skills holistically throughout the course.

The types of assessment methods range from writing reports and creating posters, through to delivering practical sessions and formal presentations.

How will I know how I am doing?

Learners are given regular feedback to support their understanding of the subject’s topic areas, whilst also receiving feedback to aid the continued development of their numeracy and literacy skills.

Maths & English
