This one-year Level 1 Electrical Installation course equips learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed for a career in the electrical industry. It emphasises practical experience, employability skills, and personal development, including support in Maths and English to aid future progression

Learners will study the following content:

  • Structure Construction Industry
  • Fundamental Safe Working Practices
  • Environmental Measures Domestic Dwellings
  • Preparation Working Construction Industry
  • Electrical Installation Wiring
  • Fabrication Techniques in Electrical Installation
  • Electrical Science and Technology

In addition, learners will learn how to maintain and store materials and equipment, and how to keep both themselves and others safe on construction sites.

What do I need to Join?

To join the Level 1 Electrical Installation course at Filton, learners must have GCSE grades 4 and 3 in English and Maths (either way). They should also demonstrate commitment, punctuality, and enthusiasm for learning and new skills.

The Level 1 Electrical Installation course at Stroud Campus covers the following content:

  • Health and Safety
  • Environmental Protection
  • Installation Methods
  • Practical Craft Skills
  • Electrical Science

In addition, learners will learn how to maintain and store materials and equipment, and ensure safety on construction sites.

What do I need to Join?

To join the Level 1 Electrical Installation course at Stroud, learners must have GCSE grade 3 in both English and Maths. They should also demonstrate commitment, punctuality, and enthusiasm for learning new skills.

Maths & English
A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and maths. Learners who are enrolled on this course will also, as part of their overall programme of study, be enrolled on either Functional Skills 1, 2 ,3 or GCSE programmes in English and Maths in order to progress towards gaining GCSE grade 4 in both subjects.
What can I do next
Learners who successfully complete will be eligible for progression onto a Level 2 programme of study, or an apprenticeship in a related discipline. Opportunities in the building services sector include: electrical, electronics, renewable technologies and electrical or mechanical engineering.
