Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Summary

With the Government’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, it is estimated the country’s solar capacity needs to treble. In this Skills Bootcamp, you will gain a Level 3 qualification in the installation and maintenance of small scale solar photovoltaics, accredited by LCL Awards. Aimed at practicing electricians, or individuals looking for a career change, this Skills Bootcamp will introduce to the latest in renewable technology, specifically Solar PV.

As well as the Level 3 qualification, there will also be opportunity gain the prerequisites that are needed to complete the qualification, as well as careers, advice and guidance.

How will I learn?

The Skills Bootcamp will be largely face to face, delivered at our SGS Berkeley Campus which has a wide range of renewable technologies to learn from. Some modules will be delivered online with a tutor. Each learners individual Skills Bootcamp will be designed for them. There are numerous modules and options to choose from, and we will work with you to design the most appropriate package.

What can I do next?

It is expected that everyone who attends a Skills Bootcamp, will either gain a new responsibility within their current role. If you are unemployed, self-employed, or looking for a career change, we can assist in linking you up with local employers.
