    Course content

    The Level 5 Advanced Diploma is designed to equip you with the expertise to manage organisational procurement activities, reduce costs, improve quality and timescales, manage the supply chain, and address legal and contractual issues. You will gain a higher level of practical, theoretical, and technical knowledge, enhancing your ability to improve organisational procurement performance.

    The modules covered in this schedule include:

    • Managing Ethical Procurement and Supply: Gain a wider appreciation of theories and techniques for managing teams and individuals involved in procurement and supply, aligned with organisational and functional objectives.

    • Managing Supply Chain Risks: Examine sources of supply chain risk and implement appropriate risk management and mitigation techniques, including risk analysis and the use of risk registers.

    • Managing Contractual Risk: Focus on the nature of contract risk and the legal implications of contract formation and non-conformance, including managing breaches of contract.

    • Advanced Contract and Financial Management: Covers strategic contractual performance measures and financial management for effective procurement and supply objectives.

    • Managing Ethical Procurement and Supply (ESG): Explore environmental, social, and governance considerations, promoting transparency, effective stakeholder engagement, and ethical supply chains.

    • Category Management: Focus on approaches for category management using tools and techniques to support direct or indirect expenditure processes.

    • Project and Change Management: Prepare to manage projects and change initiatives within the procurement and supply function.

    • Operations Management: Ensure understanding of processes required to consistently produce products and services that meet customer demand in terms of quantity and quality.

    How is the course delivered and assessed?
    Each module is timetabled throughout the year, which allows a flexible schedule to join the programme on the next module in-take. Classes are delivered one-day per week, on Wednesdays, on site at the Filton campus. Following your class sessions, there will be an exam at the end of each module. After the exams has been complete, there will be a short break before starting the next module. Once enrolled, you will need to purchase your study guides and join CIPS as student members to be allowed to sit the exams.
    What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)
    To join the course, you require a good level of Maths & English. You will also need to have an interest in the topics discussed. The study level is equivalent to second-year degree/HND studies and is suitable for those already in the Procurement industry. You must have previously complete level 4 CIPS Diploma, as this is the entry point for CIPS and they will only acknowledge achievement at Level 5 when ALL Level 4 modules are already successfully completed.
