Summary

Embark on an Experimental Ceramics course where you will have the opportunity to push boundaries and break the rules of traditional ceramics. Through playful experimentation, you will explore various techniques, glazes, clay bodies, oxides, and unconventional combinations to discover unexpected outcomes. This highly experimental course encourages students to explore and play with different elements in ceramics.

How will I learn?

The course will involve hands-on exploration and experimentation with different ceramic techniques, glazes, clay bodies, and oxides. You will have the freedom to mix elements that traditionally wouldn't be combined to see the results. The emphasis is on playing, experimenting, and discovering new possibilities. The tutor will be available to provide guidance and support as you navigate through your experimental journey. After the pieces have been glazed and fired, you will have the opportunity to observe the outcomes of your experiments. The pieces created will be fired and available for collection the following week.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year. Participants should have a basic understanding of working with clay. This course is designed for individuals who have already grasped the fundamentals of ceramics and are looking to expand their knowledge and push the boundaries of traditional ceramic practices. Bring your curiosity, openness to experimentation, and willingness to break free from conventional ceramic techniques.
