Level 3 Electrical Installation

Full time course

Summary:

This course will provide learners with the essential practical skills and underpinning knowledge to become fully qualified in the electrical industry

What will I study?

This qualification like the level 2 covers a wide range of subjects including, environment awareness, engineering techniques, electrical and electronic principles, electrical and electronic testing methods, systems and devices, electrical installation methods, wiring and circuit protection, electrical circuit inspection and testing, fault diagnosis in domestic applications.

Maths and English:

Those that haven't achieved GCSE grade C at or above in Maths and English will be given additional support to improve these skills in line with government requirements.

Employability:

In conjunction with obtaining a trade qualification and practical experience learners will also develop other skills such as interview techniques and CV preparation to prepare them for the world of work.

Work Experience:

All courses include opportunities for learners to experience working in a construction environment, this may be with employers, a community project or a project with in the college campus. This gives learners the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen trade and assists with progression choices.

What do I need to join?

You must complete a Level 2 electrical qualification and you will be required to attend an interview.

How long is the course?

1 academic year with attendance 3 days a week which includes Maths, English, enrichment, work experience and tutorial days, to further support you in your chosen career within the industry.

How will I learn?

Practical experience will be gained in the workshop, through practical activities. Underpinning knowledge will be delivered in the classroom and IT suite where study will be interactive and informative.

How will I know how I am doing?

Targets will be set and agreed with your tutor, you will receive regular feedback and one to one reviews to ensure that you are on track to achieve your goals. Your practical work will also be assessed by your tutor and your portfolio will be assessed by our internal verification team. Parents can also monitor progress through the Pro Monitor Portal.

Tuition Fees

Between the ages of 16-18 you do not need to pay tuition or exam fees for your course. If you are between the ages of 19 and 23 and have not achieved a full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification before, you will not need to pay tuition, exam or material fees using the Level 2 or 3 Entitlement. If you are aged 19 or over, studying a Level 3-6 and a Level 3 Entitlement does not apply, you will need to pay the full cost of the course. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the fees. Please contact the College directly for the most up to date fees – these may be subject to change.
