Summary
This programme is designed to maximise your opportunity to develop creative, theoretical and contextual skills. As a diagnostic course, the art foundation it will help you identify your strengths and areas for growth, guiding you towards a specialisation that aligns with your interests. You will be encouraged to explore, experiment and build confidence while using research, idea generation and reflection to create projects that are meaningful and audience-focused. Aimed at learners aged 18 and over, the course runs at both Level 3 and Level 4, focusing on a range of art, design and photography practices to prepare you for professional creative futures.
What do I need to join?
Students need to have passed GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 or above, plus at least 1 A-Level. We will also require a good portfolio to be brought to interview. or A relevant Level 3 Extended Diploma and an English or Maths GCSE at grade 4 or above (or Functional Skill Level 1 or above)
How will I learn?
The course is delivered and assessed through a variety of valuable experiences, including workshops, presentations and projects designed by industry professionals. At the end of the year, we’ll have our School of Art exhibition to showcase all the fantastic work our students do. You will work on projects using our specialist facilities, including the print room, fashion & textiles workshop, digital suite, dark room, photography studio and 3D workshop. Additionally, trips to museums and galleries will provide crucial context, helping you understand the purpose behind artistic creations and how audiences engage with art, design and photography. This comprehensive approach ensures a deep and practical understanding of your chosen fields. The core of this programme is awarded by University of the Arts London (UAL). Widely regarded as the providing the best creative qualifications available, UAL enables us to teach flexible, professional programmes that give the most valuable, engaging and industry-ready skills possible.
Work Experience
You will receive guidance and support in seeking opportunities that are relevant to your specialism, helping you gain practical experience in a real-world environment. This could involve participating in live projects set by industry professionals, entering creative competitions, or working with local or national companies. These experiences will not only help you build a strong portfolio and professional network but also provide valuable insights and practical exposure to the demands of the creative industries.

The progression and career opportunities on completion of this course are both diverse and flexible, offering pathways to higher education and various creative careers. The skills developed throughout the course - such as problem-solving, critical thinking and practical making- are highly transferable.
