This 10-week course is designed for adult learners who want to develop practical skills in photo editing using Adobe Photoshop, one of the industry’s leading creative tools.

You will learn how to enhance, manipulate, and create professional-quality images, building both technical ability and creative confidence. Whether you are completely new to Photoshop or looking to develop your existing skills, this course will support you in producing high-quality visual content for personal or professional use.

Course content

During this course, you will explore a range of essential photo editing techniques, including:

  • Introduction to the Adobe Photoshop workspace
  • Working with layers and layer management
  • Image retouching and clean-up techniques
  • Using masks for precise editing
  • Blending images and creating composites
  • Adding and formatting typography
  • Understanding and using different file types
How is the course delivered and assessed?

The course is delivered through practical, tutor-led workshops using the college’s computers and Adobe Photoshop software.

You will mainly work independently to build your skills, supported by demonstrations and guidance from your tutor. You are encouraged to bring your own images to work on, although a range of photographic materials will be provided.

Assessment is informal, with ongoing feedback throughout the course to support your progress.
