Unleash your creativity and embark on a captivating journey into the world of jewellery making with our Jewellery Making course. Discover the art of designing and crafting exquisite pieces of wearable art using silver and other metals. With two exciting terms filled with transformative learning experiences, you'll develop fundamental techniques and unleash your imagination to create stunning jewellery pieces that reflect your unique style. During the first term (Beginners 1) you will cover techniques such as silver soldering, saw piercing, annealing, and wire and sheet metal forming techniques. You will also have an introduction to enamelling, make simple jewellery findings and work on their own design project. In the second term (Beginners 2) you will develop and consolidate the skills you have learned in Beginners 1, whilst working on a stone setting and links project.
How will I learn?
In this course, you will dive into a rich and inspiring learning environment. Group demonstrations will ignite your creativity, showcasing a range of techniques and possibilities. Individual guidance from the experienced tutor will nurture your skills and provide valuable feedback. You will practice a variety of techniques, such as silver soldering, saw piercing, metal forming, enamelling, stone setting, and link constructions. Through hands-on practice, you will create samples and finished jewellery pieces, using specialist tools and materials provided for your exploration. Handouts and support through the Teams platform will enhance your learning journey.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year, to attend this course. No previous experience of jewellery making is required; all that is required is a passion for the art of jewellery making. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some prior experience, this course welcomes all enthusiasts who are eager to learn and express their creativity. Come with an open mind and a desire to immerse yourself in the captivating world of jewellery making.
Additional Information
Basic materials (copper, brass, nickel) and tools/equipment are provided for you to use. Silver is bought individually by students; the tutor will give details and guidance about how to order this.

Course fees explained
The course fee is usually broken down into three components which are materials (resources required to study the course, for example stationery, books and other equipment), tuition (teaching, classroom etc) and exams. Depending on age, financial circumstances and a number of other factors, you could be asked to pay the full fee or just elements of it. Usually Learners under 19 studying Full-Time courses have just material fees, and if relevant, Academy fees, to pay. Over 19s on Full-Time or Part-Time courses usually have materials, exams and tuition fees to pay.
