Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out in the tech industry, understanding software languages and development methodologies can open up new opportunities for advancement. This 30 week course that incorporates two certified BCS diplomas L4 Diplomas in Software Development Methodologies and Software Languages can help make you more versatile, efficient, and valued in your workplace. Teaching is mixture face to face and online lessons.

How will I learn?

Our dynamic course combines online and classroom learning, hands-on exercises, and collaborative group work. You will be in class one morning a week during term time and will conclude your learning by sitting 2 x 1 hour online exams.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Understand the similarities and differences between agile and waterfall software development methodologies.
  • Understand how teams work effectively to produce software and contribute appropriately.
  • Understand and apply software design approaches and patterns.
  • Understand and apply the logic and mathematical principals required to be a software developer.

Entry Requirements

To join the course, you will need to have a good level of maths and English. Access to a laptop or PC which can run Microsoft Teams and access the Internet (and run some commonly available software). You will also need to have an interest in software development ether as a hobby or through your work. Prior knowledge or experience is preferred due to the level. An informal interview with the course lecturer will be required before you are confirmed onto the course to ensure your suitability at Level 4.

Usually Learners under 19 studying Full-Time courses have just material fees, and if relevant, Academy fees, to pay. Over 19s on Full-Time or Part-Time courses usually have materials, exams and tuition fees to pay.
