Summary

This course prepares you for a career as a Plasterer in both new build and refurbishment construction sectors. You will work on projects ranging from domestic repairs to large commercial and retail developments. Employers vary from small family businesses to major contractors. Plasterers can specialize and become masters in their field, with consistent high demand for their skills in new builds, home renovations, and heritage projects. The role involves applying layers of plaster to walls and ceilings, providing protection, aesthetics, thermal insulation, and fire protection. You will learn both solid plastering—working on site with various materials and surfaces—and fibrous plastering, which involves creating ornamental components in a workshop and installing them on-site. Daily interactions include customers, other trades, and site management teams. You will be responsible for high-quality work, adhering to safety standards, and considering environmental sustainability. Upon completion, you can specialize in fibrous plastering, solid plastering, or external rendering.
