About the course
The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Plastering is a one-year course aimed at those looking to work in the construction industry specifically as a craftsperson in plastering.
This qualification covers all the main skills and knowledge you will need to progress into further learning and training, or to enter the world of work as a plasterer. It is split into three pathways: solid, fibrous and interior systems. You will study the following mandatory content:
- Health safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Applying plastering materials to interiors
- Units from specific pathway
To gain this qualification, learners must successfully achieve:
- One externally set, externally moderated practical assignment
- One externally set, externally marked exam, sat under exam conditions
- Employer involvement requirement

Stroud Presentation
This Level 2 course is based at our Filton campus, located
in South Gloucestershire which is easily accessible from the city of Bristol by
train (Bristol Parkway / Bristol Abbey Wood) and bus. As well as our Stroud
campus in the centre of Gloucestershire, surrounded by the Cotswold Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty. The campus is a short walk from Stroud train station
and easily accessible by bus.
Maths & English
A key requirement for future progression and employment is a good understanding and application of knowledge and skills in both English and maths.
Learners who are enrolled on this course will also, as part of their overall programme of study, be enrolled on Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths in order to progress towards gaining GCSE grade 4 in both subjects.
What do I need to join
As well as having a keen interest in the subject area, learners will need to possess GCSE grade 3 and 2 either way in English and Maths.
Ideally, learners will have completed a Level 1 qualification in a related field or be able to demonstrate knowledge of the trade and complete a skills assessment.
Learners will need to be committed, punctual and demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning and taking on new ideas and skills.
