You will gain knowledge of Setting out masonry structures, solid walling, decorative work, cavity walling, Health & safety, principles of construction. You will gain theoretical knowledge of Bricklaying at a second year standard and principles of construction.
Course content
This course is delivered at multiple campuses, each of which is offered slightly differently. Click the relevant campus below for further information.
The level 2 qualification is aimed at learners that have progressed or that have achieved GCSE at 4 and above, looking for a career in bricklaying. On this course you will develop the necessary skills in building cavity walling, arches, decorative brickwork and solid walling.
This Techniqual Certificate covers essential content including the principles of construction, building cavity walls and constructing solid walls and piers. You will also study basic construction techniques. Alongside this theoretical knowledge, you will gain practical experience through work placements and employer-led projects.
To achieve the qualification, you need to complete one externally set and moderated practical assignment and pass an externally set and marked exam under formal conditions. Additionally, there is a requirement for employer involvement to ensure real-world experience.
What do I need to join
In addition to having a strong interest in the subject area, you need to have at least a GCSE grade 4 in both English and Maths. You should be committed, punctual and enthusiastic about learning and adopting new ideas and skills.
Upon completion of the course you can move on to an apprenticeship. Alternatively, you can pursue a related discipline in construction to enhance your skills and career
