Covid Update

On Tuesday 29 March, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, set out the next steps for living with COVID-19 in England from Friday 1 April.

Updated guidance advises:

  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and no longer have a high temperature.
  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can return to college when they no longer have a high temperature, and are well enough to attend.
  • Adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.

For education and childcare settings from Friday 1 April:

  • Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting, including in SEND, alternative provision and children’s social care settings. Therefore, we will no longer be able to order test kits .

Esports Academy

All candidates for the Esports Academy must be on a full-time course at SGS College. We offer a range of educational and vocational opportunities such as A-Levels, BTEC Qualifications and apprenticeships. We also offer a unique College Level to University pathway with a range of specialist degree qualifications at our University Centre WISE. Academy Aims

Whether you are a top-level player or you just want to give something a go, you can get involved in our Esports Academy. We provide coaching for players and teams of all levels.

We aim to develop aspiring professional players, providing them with the knowledge and skills to improve their performance in-game, while educating players on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Players will be given the opportunity to find their place within grass-roots Esports and begin developing their brand and player reputation through interactions with professional players and scrims against other tier 3 and tier 2 teams.

Join the Firstshot Esports Academy

We are currently fielding teams for VALORANT; competing in against other College teams in the British Esports Federation Student Championships. There are also opportunities to enter other Tier 3 VALORANT tournaments, playing against top VALORANT teams in the country and internationally.

The Programme includes:

  • Up to 10 hours of elite VALORANT training per week
  • Individualised development player 1-1s
  • Player performance profiling
  • VOD review and performance data analysis
  • Team and individualised training programmes, focused on developing micro and macro skills.
  • Individual strength, conditioning and fitness programmes.
  • Individual health and well-being coaching.
  • Fixtures against top level academy professional clubs.
  • Scrims against top level academy clubs, tier-3 and tier-2 professional teams.
  • Elite professional coach dedicated to player development and team performance.
  • Role specific coaching from guest professional players.

Top level coaching

Nikki Livingstone – Esports Coach

Nikki is an experienced coach and player in VALORANT and other FPS titles. Nikki specialises in ingame strategy, micro and macro skill development and aim-coaching.

  • Currently IGL and controller main for an all-female roster competing in the VCT Game Changers.
  • Experience competing in VALORANT, having competed in the VCT Challengers Qualifiers, VCT Game Changers Series, RIX.GG Huntress Trials, TGH Birds of Prey and Girls House tournaments.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a range of titles; Medal of Honor Allied Assault, CSGO, Apex Legends and VALORANT.
  • Women in Games Ambassador, aiming to promote equality and opportunities for Women in Esports.


While competing for our Esports Academy, you will be developing as a player and a team. Upon competition of your course, you will have the opportunity to take your team and continue to compete in tier-3 or tier-2 level tournaments. By scrimming against College and non-College teams, you will be developing a reputation as a player and you will be supported in securing and preparing for try-outs for established Esports teams.

This should include your full name, game experience, preferred in-game role, prior teams or achievements, link to any highlight videos. We also accept applications from those new to VALORANT, we just need your full name and a brief description of your background in other Esports.
