Rugby

Saul
Nelson
Head Coach,Rugby
Saul Nelson
Head Coach - RugbyI was fortunate enough to spend 15 years as a professional rugby player, I loved every second of it. I played for Bristol Rugby in the RFU Premiership, European Heineken Cup and RFU Championship, Exeter Chiefs and London Welsh.
I would consider the highlights of my rugby journey is to have represented Wales at u16, u18, u21’s, Wales A and also tour Japan with Welsh senior squad in 2001.
On retiring through injury in 2013 where surgery on my neck was required, I knew coaching professionally was the way forward. I knew my love for the game is something I could give back to the sport through my coaching.
I am a RFU Level 3 coach and currently studying for my RFU level 4 certificate in Coaching.
I have coached people across a vast spectrum of environments from primary school children, young offender prisons right up to professional rugby players for 1:1 skill development and professional club rugby in Wales.
During my time as Head of Rugby at SGS College, the number of players we have seen develop into great young men whether, it be International schoolboy players progressing into professional rugby, University students or into the work place. I am exceptionally proud of them all.
