Job Reference 1741945Junior IT Support Technician ApprenticeshipThe job will involve offering IT support to our Operations Team, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, this will include problem solving and trouble shooting.

Apprenticeship Summary

In your daily work, you will interact with the Operations Team, both at Head Office, remote users and Managers on our sites.

You will be responsible for prioritising support tasks as they arise and for monitoring and maintaining system performance. You will work as part of a team but will escalate problems in line with bespoke Cleaning policies and Service Level Agreements. For example, if the task cannot be completed on premise, you will work with our external supplier.

The IT Support Technician role is desk based resolving system user queries and faults. For example, monitoring and trouble shooting daily Time & Attendance (T&A) system on the portal and supporting the field-based user on the T&A tablet.

The IT Support Technician will be responsible for setting up mobile phones and android based tablets and supporting the remote users with their devices.

As the successful apprentice you will undertake an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3. 

This will include:

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in Information Communcations 
  • Professional qualification - Diploma   
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • End point assessment 
  • Functional Skills if needed in maths and English 

The Apprenticeship will be delivered by a South Gloucestershire & Stroud College in Filton. You will be required to attend Filton Campus one day per week to complete any underpinning knowledge support.

You will be assigned a supervisor/mentor within the workplace, who will support you to develop your workplace skills, knowledge and experience throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme.

The Level 3 Information Communication Technician (ICT) apprenticeship is designed for apprentices looking for a career in the operation of IT and/or telecommunications systems, including hardware and software.

There are three pathways within the ICT standard – Support Technician, Network Technician and Digital Communications Technician.  The Support Technician role focusses on resolving user queries and faults in a helpdesk context. A Network Technician can be desk-based as well as requiring visits to client premises to resolve issues, install networks and install and update software. A Digital Communications Technician specialises in resolving faults and issues in communications systems, including those used in a military/defence context.
