Apprenticeship Summary

The main areas of work covered are;

  • Boiler installations and replacements
  • Full central heating systems
  • System upgrades
  • Complete new build installations
  • Under floor heating
  • Complete bathroom renovations
  • Tiling
  • General household plumbing
  • Maintenance

This is a varied job role and will involve a lot of onsite training alongside the college-based learning. The candidate will be expected carry out basic labouring jobs and assist with all of the above-mentioned areas of work. As more knowledge and confidence is gained, they will be given the chance to carry out more practical and advanced roles on the way to becoming a fully qualified plumbing and heating engineer.

The candidate must show a good attitude towards learning and be prepared to carry out a range of different tasks. It is absolutely vital that the applicant take pride in their work and be able to listen and understand instructions.

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent Grades A*-C/9-4 in maths and English or equivalent are desirable, however it is more important to have the personal skills, work ethic and communication skills for this position
  • Having the right attitude, work ethic and commitment to your education, as well as your employment, are essential requirements to this role

Future prospects

Progression will be discussed on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

  • Must hold a full driving licence or in the process of learning to drive (this is due to visiting various sites)
  • Any applicants considered would have to be interviewed and expected to work a trial week
  • Any successful candidate would have to work a 3-month probationary period

A.M.P Heating & Plumbing Services has been successfully trading for 5 years, undertaking many aspects of domestic plumbing and heating. We cover everything from general plumbing maintenance to bathroom renovations, heating systems and complete new build installations.

Training

As the successful apprentice you will undertake an Advanced Apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating.

  • Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician
  • Functional skills in maths and English will be delivered (if applicable) during your college attendance

The Apprenticeship will be delivered by a South Gloucestershire & Stroud College Assessor. You will be required to attend Stroud Campus to complete any underpinning knowledge support, (may be remotely due to the current circumstances) however, the majority of your assessments towards your qualifications will be undertaken within the workplace environment.

You will be assigned a supervisor/mentor within the workplace, who will support you to develop your workplace skills, knowledge and experience throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme.
