Recent Short OFSTED Inspection - 17th October 2017
South Gloucestershire and Stroud College’s second inspection was completed in October 2017 with the formal report confirming an overall ‘Good’ grade with outstanding features; this being a continuation of the outcomes of the previous inspection in November 2014.
The College, one of the newest in the country, was formed by the dissolution of Filton and Stroud Colleges and the incorporation of SGS College in February 2012. SGS currently has five main campuses across Gloucestershire, Bristol and South Gloucestershire and has over 4000 full-time 16-18 year old learners, 2000 apprentices and 5000 adult students. The College's first inspection by Ofsted as South Gloucestershire and Stroud College took place 17th November 2014 and was graded 'Good' status.
OFSTED judged that the college had 'Outstanding' Leadership and Management, Learner Support services, and Employability Programmes. There were further 'Outstanding' grades in Sport, Business, Performing and Visual Arts. The report also outlined that a significant and increasing proportion of teaching and learning is outstanding, and learners benefit from the College's culture of high expectations and receive outstanding support in their studies.
