Sara-Jane Watkins
College Principal

PA: Lynne Bravington

Sara-Jane Watkins was appointed Principal in September 2015 and is responsible for providing leadership of all functional and curriculum areas, implementing Corporation decisions, day to day management of budget and resources, plus overseeing all aspects of staff and student discipline.

With a Masters Degree in marketing from the University of the West of England and an Honours Degree in countryside management, Sara-Jane was previously Communications Director at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire. 

Emma Jarman
Vice Principal, Quality, Staff and Learner Services/Deputy CEO SGS Academy Trust

PA: Sandie Vaughan

Emma Jarman joined the College on 18 June 2013, as Vice Principal after leaving her former role as Assistant Principal Curriculum at London's largest College.

Emma is an experienced senior manager with over 22 years' experience working in, or with, the FE sector - as a teacher of creative and performing arts, curriculum & senior manager, and quality improvement consultant & trainer. Emma has also been a part-time Ofsted inspector for over a decade.

At SGS, Emma takes on senior management responsibility for Quality, Learner Services, Enrichment, Support and Human Resources. Emma is responsible for driving forward the SGS Academy Trust which is an initiative which supports schools in the Gloucestershire and West of England areas.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys music and the arts, reading and the occasional run.

Judith Saunderson
Chief Finance Officer

PA: Lindsay Driver-Dickerson

Judith Saunderson joined the College in 2004 after leaving her role as a Senior Manager at Deloittes.

Judith is responsible for overseeing the financial strategy and performance of the College, our subsidiary companies and Trusts. Judith has a Masters degree from Oxford University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

Helen Edmunds
Head of Human Resources

Helen Edmunds joined the College in November 2007 and became Head of Human Resources on 25 July 2011. Helen is an experienced HR Professional with many years' experience in both the private and public sector. Helen is responsible for overseeing the Human Resources function at SGS College.

Kelly Gillett
Curriculum Director HE & Adults (Associate Dean)

Kelly began volunteering in the IT centre at the College in 2000, progressing to IT centre team leader, Head of Department for Professional and Financial Services and then to Curriculum Director HE & Adults (Associate Dean); responsible for the Adult Curriculum, Higher Education and Employability.

During her time at the College, Kelly has completed more than 15 courses gaining an understanding of the Further Education experience. Having taken the FE study route, Kelly feels strongly about the opportunities it offers.

Kelly holds an Honours Degree in Business and Human Resources and Post Graduate Teaching Certificate. Kelly is currently studying for a MBA at the University of Gloucestershire.

When not at work, Kelly is with her two children, her friends and family, at the gym or shoe shopping!

Patrick McLeod
Curriculum Director Apprenticeships & Employer Responsive

Patrick has managed work-based learning and apprenticeships since joining Filton College in 2008, following 12 years working in land-based further education. Patrick has an honours degree in Agricultural Engineering from Cranfield University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Bristol University.

Stuart Evans
Curriculum Director 16-18

Stuart joined the College in 2000, delivering in the Sports and Public Services Department, as well as provision within our highly successful Sports Academies.

Stuart is an experienced FE practitioner and has held management positions across a wide range of provision within SGS.

As Curriculum Director 16-18 Stuart is responsible for the success of learners on their Study Programmes.

Outside of College Stuart enjoys spending time with his children, and volunteers locally coaching a junior football side.

Penny Chislett
Head of Learner Services and Support

Penny joined the organisation in 2001 as a learning support worker. Penny has held a variety of support and management positions over the last 15 years. Having worked for the College at many different levels, Penny has a great understanding of the FE sector and the life changing impact education can have to young people's lives. As Head of Learner Services and Support, Penny and her team are committed to providing an outstanding service of support for all learners at SGS College.

Liam Evans
Head of Marketing

Liam, is a marketing graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School, joining the College in 2003 having worked as International Marketing Manager at a regional FE provider.

Liam has day to day responsibility for all aspects of Marketing, Learner Recruitment, Enrolments, Schools Engagement and Customer Experience, whilst also providing marketing support for Bristol City Women's Football Club and the SGS Group.

Gavin Murray
Head of Quality, Learning Resources & Performance

Gavin Murray joined the College in August 2008 as a lecturer in Law and Business.

With thirteen years' experience in Further Education Gavin has been both a corporate and a curriculum manager having taught, at all levels, law and business to both academic and vocational learners.

Gavin also has experience working with the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency, the Quality Assurance Agency, for Higher Education, and two major International Awarding Bodies both on curriculum design and development and in the conduct of public examinations.

With degrees in law and economics and a higher degree in legal practice Gavin has responsibility for monitoring academic performance and overseeing the College's quality assurance function, libraries and learning resource provision.

Gavin Murray

David Fisk
Head of Management Information Systems (MIS)

David joined the College in 2002 following a change of career from the banking sector.

As Head of MIS, David leads the development and implementation of information technology initiatives. He is responsible for implementing systems that improve the service we can offer to our learners, increase their chances of success and allow the College to operate cost effectively.

David holds a Masters Degree in Digital Media.

Outside of College, David enjoys paddle boarding, golf and cycling.

Tim Hanks
Head of IT

Tim joined the College in 2005 and has held a key position in IT ever since with over 16 years' experience of both IT and education.

As Head of IT, Tim leads on infrastructure and new technologies across the organisation whilst also providing support for SGS Group.

Outside of College, Tim enjoys surfing and is a keen motorcyclist.

Simon Panes
Director of Sport

Simon joined the College in 1999 and started by setting up the extremely successful Sports Academies from scratch . Simon was instrumental in the growth of the Bristol Academy of Sport and also in the development of the WISE Campus .

As Director of Sport Simon's wealth of sporting experience both locally and nationally will no doubt aid him in his new role .

Outside of College Simon enjoys trying to reduce his Golf Handicap and spending time with his family .

Angela Humphrey
Head of Finance

Angela joined the college in 2016 as Head of Finance after her short tenure at The SGS Academy Trust as Finance Manager.

As a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Angela has obtained extensive management and financial experience spanning over 20 years within the financial services sector. Prior to joining The SGS Academy Trust Angela worked in senior corporate positions at Lloyds TSB and played a significant role in the split of TSB from Lloyds Bank and the subsequent flotation of TSB.

Angela has primary responsibility for the operational management of the finances within the college and direct responsibility for the finance team within the College.

George Ridd
Site Director Berkeley Campus

George was appointed Site Director - Berkeley Campus in January 2017, having been appointed Head of Sector for Engineering, Construction and Low Carbon in 2016.

George joined Filton College in 2007 as Head of Construction and Engineering.

On completion of his BSc, George worked in the Construction Industry for 10 years as site Engineer and Manager. He then moved into Local Government as a Manager for Direct Works where he was responsible for the delivery of all services.
