Students and staff celebrate World Vegan Month

Every year World Vegan Month is celebrated in November to promote and embrace veganism. This year SGS College decided to join in to educate both students and staff about this chosen lifestyle.

The aim of the event was to celebrate a healthy, low carbon, cruelty free and plant-based lifestyle for vegans, vegetarians and those with a dairy intolerance.

A vegan stall was put in place for a week in the foyer of the Stroud Campus offering information, vegan-pledge forms, recipe booklets, information about local vegan-friendly places to eat and a day of free vegan food tasting was also on offer.

Student Union President and Organiser Sahaya James, said: “I was pleasantly surprised by the positive response, interest and the constant queue, often made up entirely of students, who were interested not merely in the free food but also enquiring about veganism.  I received many dedicated, enthusiastic and helpful volunteers including staff members, vegans, vegetarians and those who were just interested in the diet to help out on the day. It was enjoyed by all.”
