Students perform better at SGS College

Delighted staff at SGS College are celebrating the results in the recently published National Key Stage 5 Performance Tables, which shows that students studying at SGS College perform beyond expectation and, in some instances, perform better than they would at any other College in the South West.

When compared against the six General Further Education Colleges in the South West of England, SGS College's Value Added performance is consistently ranked in the top three and in some cases at the top.

Value added shows the average distance travelled by learners between Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 a positive score demonstrates progress.

Over the past couple of years, the College's A-Levels provision has seen consistent growth in its value added score; meaning that, on average, a student studying for an A level achieves far better at SGS than expected.

In addition, the College's Vocational offering has also maintained a high level of success. On Average, a Vocational student at SGS College will achieve one grade higher than expected, when compared to their performance at school.

Sara-Jane Watkins, Principal of SGS College, comments:

"Our success, and in particular, the progress made by our students, is excellent and improves year on year.

"Staff at the College know their students very well and set challenging targets to ensure they stay motivated and achieve as well as they do."
