Apprenticeship Summary

Solicitors accounts are a very particular area, so for the right person this is an opening into a highly skilled area and will give that person the ability to develop a career within the legal market.

Particular duties:

  • Assist in Daily reconciliations of both Client and Office accounts 
  • Monitoring and processing incoming and outgoing funds 
  • Banking all cheques received and drawing cheques on a daily basis 
  • Checking completion statements and bills 
  • Paying suppliers invoices 
  • Processing all transactions through the accounts’ software 
  • Daily filing 
  • Monitor emails 
  • Debtors and Creditors control 
  • Assisting Partners and staff with any accounts queries 
  • Assist in collating and supplying data to the auditors for the year end accounts 
  • Assisting with the annual renewal of Practising Certificates and Professional Indemnity Insurance

Desired qualifications

The selection criteria for this opportunity should include 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including maths and English, although some employers will accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent). Apprentices without English or maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to taking the end point assessment.

Future prospects

As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18-year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.

Training

Our Apprenticeship programmes are designed around a mix of on-the-job training and off the job learning including day release to college. The apprentice will attend the Filton Campus of SGS College to complete this Advanced Level 3 Assistant Account apprenticeship.

You will be assigned a supervisor/mentor within the workplace, who will support you to development your workplace skills, knowledge and experience throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme.
