Director of Construction and Green Skills

FTE Salary Range: £58,734.00- £66,201.00 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Lead and shape one of the most strategically important curriculum areas within SGS College.

This role sits at the forefront of regional and national priorities, driving provision that supports construction growth, green skills development and the future workforce. As a key member of the Extended Leadership Group, you will deliver strong achievement and progression across 16–18, adult and apprenticeship provision, ensuring learners move successfully into employment, further study and higher-level training aligned to sector demand. 

You will lead a large and influential Directorate, over 1,200 learners and 80+ staff, developing a coherent skills pipeline from entry level through to higher-level pathways. This includes shaping industry-led curriculum aligned to LSIP priorities, responding to regional growth through Brabazon and the West of England Innovation Arc, and strengthening collaborative delivery with Exeter College as the South West technical excellence partner for construction. You will drive the development of advanced technical and higher-level provision, ensuring learners progress into skilled, sustainable employment in a rapidly evolving sector. 

Key Priorities

  • Lead a high-performing Construction and Green Skills Directorate across 16–18, adult and apprenticeships
  • Design a progressive, joined-up curriculum pathway, from entry to higher-level technical provision
  • Drive development of higher-level skills and progression routes, aligned to workforce demand
  • Align provision to LSIP priorities and regional economic growth sectors
  • Respond to developments including Brabazon and the West of England Innovation Arc
  • Strengthen employer partnerships and co-design, ensuring industry relevance
  • Build collaborative delivery with Exeter College, leveraging regional technical excellence
  • Drive green skills and sustainable construction curriculum development
  • Secure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across all provision types
  • Lead large-scale teams to deliver high-impact, employment-focused outcomes
