Apply Online

All applications are made through our online portal using our standard application form, CVs alone are not accepted. In your supporting statement, make sure you address the person specification directly.

Shortlisting

Applications are reviewed against the published person specification by our recruitment team and hiring managers. We aim to notify all applicants within two weeks of the closing date.

Interview

Interviews are typically held in person on campus. Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete a short task or teaching observation, we'll share full details in advance so you can prepare.

Pre-Employment Checks

All offers are subject to an enhanced DBS check, two professional references and right to work confirmation. Safeguarding is our highest priority as a college working with young people and vulnerable adults.

Welcome to SGS

Your induction starts before day one, expect a welcome pack, IT setup guidance and your first-day programme ahead of your start date. All new staff complete our full induction, including safeguarding training and campus orientation.

Not necessarily. We welcome applications from industry professionals with relevant subject expertise. If you don't hold a teaching qualification, we'll support you in working toward one, many of our staff complete an Initial Teacher Training route whilst working at SGS.

Our pre-employment checks usually take 4+ weeks, this is subject to numerous checks in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines and all roles requiring an Enhanced DBS check. The completion of the DBS check is dependent on the Disclosure and Barring Service's current processing times. Our People & Culture team will guide you through the process as soon as a conditional offer is made.

Yes, many roles at SGS are available on a part-time or term-time basis. Job descriptions and adverts will clearly state the contracted hours, but we are open to discussing flexible arrangements for the right candidate. Please indicate your preferences on your application form within your supporting statement.

All advertised salaries are shown as the full-time equivalent (FTE). Your actual salary will be pro-rated based on your contracted hours and the adverts will contain an estimated actual salary.
