SGS Create provides a specialised, school-like environment within a college setting, offering a nurturing and inclusive space for students who have found mainstream education challenging. Many of our learners are neurodiverse, have experienced prolonged disengagement, or are seeking a more personalised and flexible approach to learning. Our balanced curriculum includes core academic GCSEs-such as English Language, Maths, and Double Science-alongside vocational pathways tailored to student interests, all supported by small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio.

As with all teaching roles, this position is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. You’ll be part of a values-led, collaborative team who recognise that mainstream education does not work for all learners. SGS Create has developed a highly supportive and responsive provision that removes many of the barriers faced by some of the most marginalised students, creating the conditions for them to thrive. Now entering its third year, SGS Create continues to grow and evolve. • SGS Create teaching staff will be allocated 13 weeks holidays each academic year, only to be taken in line with the school holiday term breaks. Some cover might be needed during term breaks but this will be with prior agreement.  A full- time teaching timetable would be 25 hours timetable per week to allow for PPA, over 39 teaching weeks, this will be reduced to reflect any agreed remission allocated for specific roles or responsibilities.  All posts will be subject to the Colleges academic employment Terms and Conditions.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding English Teacher to join our team from September 2026. We welcome applications from qualified teachers with QTS, including ECTs, who are passionate about delivering high-quality English teaching and building positive relationships with young people.

This is a varied role, delivering GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature, with potentially an element of Functional Skills English, at both Foundation and Higher Tier. You will teach small classes, work closely with our experienced pastoral and SEND teams, and play an important part in helping students develop confidence alongside achieving strong academic outcomes.

Many of our learners have experienced barriers to education, including anxiety, autism, SEMH needs or long periods of non-attendance. They benefit from teachers who combine high expectations with patience, consistency and an understanding of the importance of relationships.

Experience of teaching learners with SEND or SEMH is desirable but not essential. What matters most is that you are an excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to helping every learner achieve their potential.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Deliver GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature and potentially Functional Skills English lessons.
• Teach small classes and adapt learning to meet individual student needs.
• Work closely with pastoral and SEND teams to support learner progress and wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships with students while helping them develop confidence and achieve strong academic outcomes.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), including Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
• Strong classroom teaching skills and subject knowledge in English.
• Ability to support and engage learners facing barriers to education, including SEND and SEMH needs.
• Patient, flexible and relationship-focused approach with a commitment to helping all learners achieve their potential.
