SGS College’s Estates Department have an exciting opportunity for an Estates Assistant, based at Wise Campus. This role will assist in the preparation, presentation and maintenance of the campus facilities to help in delivering a safe, purposeful and outstanding learning and working environment for staff, learners and visitors.

The hours of attendance will include early mornings, late evenings with a varying shift pattern to suit the needs of the business. The working week at Wise Campus runs from Sunday to Saturday with opening hours from 5-30am to 10pm at night. The hours of attendance will be aggregated to 37 hours per week.  


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To respond the Estates Helpdesk requests as detailed, ensuring all maintenance requests are carried out within an expected period; identify and action immediately any Health and Safety issues; to follow up any problems that arise and liaise back to the Estates Building Services Manager with queries, problems and amended
  • Undertake as directed planned maintenance tasks which may include painting and decorating in order to maintain a safe, clean and aesthetically pleasing learning environment. This role is important in ensuring the upkeep of facilities for staff, students and visitors.
  • Providing a swift and courteous response to customer needs
  • Opening the building and carrying out pre-start inspections
  • Securing the building and carrying out internal and external security checks
  • Basic maintenance tasks such as painting, lamp replacement, plumbing and managing completion of these tasks
  • Cleaning of both internal and external areas
  • Organising distribution and collection of parcels, equipment, waste etc.
  • Contractor supervision and access
  • Participating in seasonal works i.e. ice and snow clearance, leaf blowing, etc.
  • Maintaining security of campus and assets - this includes challenging learners and unidentified persons
  • Providing advice, guidance and information to staff, learners, visitors and external users of the facilities
  • To play an active role in Safeguarding of learners and visitors
  • A driving licence would be beneficial but not essential

 

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Key skills level 2 in both English and maths
