South Gloucestershire and Stroud College's second inspection was completed in October 2017, with the formal report confirming an overall Good grade with Outstanding features. This was a continuation of the outcomes of the previous inspection in November 2014.
Ofsted judged that the College had Outstanding adult provision, personal development, and makes a strong contribution to meeting regional skills needs, the highest judgement a college can receive. The rest of SGS College's provision was considered 'Good' with this being the overall judgement.

The College, one of the newest in the country, was formed by the dissolution of Filton and Stroud Colleges and the incorporation of SGS College in February 2012. SGS currently has five main campuses across Gloucestershire, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and has over 4000 full-time 16-18-year-old learners, 2000 apprentices and 5000 adult students.

Ofsted judged that the College had Outstanding leadership and management, learner support services and employability programmes. There were further Outstanding grades in sport, business, performing and visual arts. The report also outlined that a significant and increasing proportion of the teaching and learning is Outstanding, and that learners benefit from the College's culture of high expectations and receive Outstanding support in their studies.
