The Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals ready to take on greater responsibility within the finance sector. In this role, you’ll create, verify, and review accurate financial information to meet ethical, professional, and legal standards. You’ll develop expertise in business systems, processes, and standard accounting or tax practices, preparing you for complex tasks such as producing financial reports, managing compliance, and supporting strategic decisions. Opportunities exist across a wide range of settings, including accountancy practices, professional services firms, HMRC, and in-house finance teams. By completing this apprenticeship, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to progress toward senior roles or chartered status.

Entry requirements
This course is a great next step for learners who have completed Level 3, with the advanced knowledge and skills.
As an apprentice, you will need to be register with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) for your student membership.
If you haven’t yet achieved a Level 2 qualification in Maths or English (or an equivalent), we provide free Functional Skills lessons alongside your apprenticeship to help you reach this important milestone. These sessions are designed to build confidence and strengthen your core skills, making you even more employable. For apprentices under 19, these lessons are a mandatory part of your journey ensuring you have a level 2 in Maths and/or English by the end of your programme.
