About the course
Welcome to the GCSE Plus programme at SGS College! This retake course is designed as a stepping stone to help you transition smoothly to Level Three study, acquiring the necessary GCSE grades ready for progression into higher education. Over the course of one year, you will gain the skills, confidence, and grades necessary to take your next steps toward a successful future. With the support of friendly and dedicated teaching staff, you will be encouraged every step of the way.
Course content
The GCSE Plus programme is tailored to each learner, allowing you to choose the right subject areas for you. You can select from a variety of options, including Combined Science, English Language, English Literature, Film Studies, Maths, Higher Maths, and Sociology. This flexibility ensures that you can focus on the subjects that align with your interests and future goals, choosing between 3 to 5 subjects that suit your individual needs.
What do I need to join
As GCSE Plus is designed as a retake course, the requirement is to have grade 3s and above across all GCSE subjects. Students with grade 2s in English and Maths will be assessed at enrolment stage to ascertain if GCSE Plus is the right fit. For students who have never taken GCSEs before, you can still be assessed and have a chance to join the course. The GCSE Plus programme welcomes all students, whether you’re looking to retake your GCSEs or have been home-schooled.
What can I do next
Upon successfully completing the GCSE Plus programme, a world of opportunities will open up for you. You can pursue A-levels, apprenticeships, BTECs, employment, foundation degrees, HNC/HNDs, internships, or NVQs. Most UK universities require a minimum of 4 GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Mathematics, making this programme crucial for your future educational goals.
