Whether you missed the opportunity to obtain GCSE Maths during your school years or aim to improve your grade, our comprehensive course is designed to equip you with the necessary skills. By completing this course, you’ll be well-prepared to achieve a grade 4 or higher. We cover a wide range of topics, including: • Numbers • Algebra • Ratio • Proportion and rates of change • Geometry and measures • Probability and statistics
How will I learn?
Our experienced tutors will guide you through the curriculum, providing targeted instructions and engaging activities. You’ll enhance your understanding and proficiency in each topic, gaining confidence in applying mathematical principles to real-world situations. Lessons for this course are scheduled for three hours once a week, during either daytime or evening sessions. To get started, simply inquire about the course, and you’ll be invited to attend an initial Advice, Guidance, and Assessment session. During this session, one of our Maths Team members will discuss your assessment results with you, providing valuable feedback and information about the course best suited to your needs. If you don’t meet the proficiency level required for the fast-track, one-year GCSE course, don’t worry. We offer a progression course that focuses on building skills through a Maths Functional Skills qualification. Lessons for both courses are between 2.5 to 3 hours long, once a week, and are available during daytime or evening sessions. Entry Requirements
When you enquire about the course, you will be invited to attend an initial Advice, Guidance and Assessment session. Following this, you will have a discussion with one of the Maths Team, who will provide feedback on your assessment and information on the course you will be offered.
Additional Information
Exams At the end of the course in May/June, there will be three exams. These exams have externally set dates that are the same nationwide, so it is crucial that you ensure your availability on those specific days. Course Fees Part time Adult GCSE Maths course is free if you: • Are over the age of 19 • Have not yet passed GCSE Maths in grade 4 or C • Have not yet passed Maths Functional Skills Level 2 • Are UK resident and have lived in the UK in the past 3 years • Are EAA resident or are eligible for the funding. College will ask your residency cards, share code or relevant documents for eligibility check before course starts.
