Students and staff at SGS College are celebrating another year of outstanding academic success, with strong A Level, T Level and Level 3 BTEC results once again proving the college’s commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and student support.
This year’s A Level results show an overall A Level pass rate of 96.8% (A*-E), an improvement on last year’s 95.7%, with significant achievements in key subjects including:
35% of SGS learners achieved high grades A*-B, with A* grades being awarded in a wide range of subjects such as Biology, Criminology, Economics, Further Mathematics, History, Maths, Psychology, Physical Education, and Sociology.
There was strong performance across Level 3 BTEC courses too, with 96% of students achieving a pass grade profile and 33% achieving Distinction or Distinction * grades.
Biomedical Science learner Mia Chilman excelled achieving triple Distinction* in her BTEC qualification. Mia is progressing to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Bio Medical Science.
The support at SGS has been amazing throughout the two years, the teachers are always there if you need help anytime of the day. I would recommend the BTEC route to anyone as it has allowed me to excel as a practical person and secure a place at my first-choice university.
In addition to A-Level and BTEC results, SGS College is delighted to share the continued success of its T Level provision. Last year saw the first-ever T Level cohort achieve a 100% pass rate – and this year, that success continues with a second year of 100% of learners passing their T Level qualification and 65% of learners achieving a Merit or Distinction.
Two standout successes were friends Lara and Ruby who both achieved Distinctions in Early Years and Childcare. Lara is progressing to Durham University to study Primary Care and Ruby is heading to University of the West of England to study Childhood Studies.
Our tutor Rosie was continually supportive and went above and beyond when helping secure our placements and prepare our UCAS applications.
Beyond the statistics are inspirational stories of personal achievement, ambition, and resilience.
Jacob Bevan secured a place at Bath University to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering after securing A* and A grades in Maths, Further Maths and Physics.
The support at SGS has been fantastic and after my time at Bath University the dream job would be an electrical engineer for British Antarctic Circle.” Leia Emery excelled achieving high grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Geography and will be beginning her Astrophysics degree at The University of Edinburgh. Leia said “I really liked SGS, the college gives a sense of freedom, and it was a nice experience. My teacher Violet was so supportive throughout the two years, always congratulating us and encouraging us to do well.
Students from SGS Sixth are going on to study high-profile degrees including Medicine, Law and Economics at prestigious universities across the UK, while others have already secured jobs and higher-level apprenticeships.
At SGS Sixth, academic achievement is matched by personal development. The college offers over 30 enrichment academies, allowing students to combine their studies with passions in sport, science, creative writing, enterprise and more.
Our students work incredibly hard, and we are proud to support them with a nurturing environment that enables them to thrive academically and personally.
Every grade is hard-earned. These results reflect the determination of our learners, the expertise of our teaching staff and the exceptional care of our support teams.
Everyone here at SGS is incredibly proud of the exceptional results achieved by our students today. These results and the qualifications gained are a testament to the hard work and diligence of each and every student, ably supported and inspired by their amazing team of specialist teachers and tutors.
Once again, our students have achieved qualifications with some of the highest grades across a range of curriculum including subjects such as mathematics and humanities, through to health and social care, sciences and the creative arts. The diversity of our curriculum supports our commitment to inclusivity and personal development for all, and these results are proof of why this is such an important aspect of our approach to education at SGS.
