We are currently looking to recruit a lecturer to teach on our Level 2 Health and Social Care and Level 2 Applied Science course within the vocational department at SGS Stroud. The level 2 pathway is set up for those learners who have not yet secured a grade 4 in science due to a variety of reasons such as being home schooled, hospital educated or just not getting the needed grades to start further education at level 3, and therefore they come to college with the aspiration progressing onto further courses in the health or science industry at level 3 and above, often our T Level Health Qualification. At the college, the subjects sit within our Vocational department and the successful candidate will be supported by a fantastic team who have a track record of achieving consistently outstanding results where students regularly make progress beyond their expected level.

The post holder should have a good knowledge or experience within the health or science industries and be comfortable operating in our new look science labs and specialist health care classrooms, as well as conventional classrooms.

South Gloucestershire & Stroud College has an excellent reputation for delivering further education and work-based programmes in a range of subjects – from business to sport, construction to media, GCSE’s and A Levels to Honour Degree level programmes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Deliver content within our science and health and social care courses in a fun and developmental way
• Design and develop course materials that bring theory to life and reflect current industry practices within your unit delivery allocation
• Inspire learners to explore careers in health, social care and science through real-world examples and engaging curriculum delivery.
• Prepare them for future progression onto careers in relevant industry areas.
• Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to aid success
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and share best practices
• Liaise with external agencies and care providers to enrich the learning experience
• Collaborate with a passionate team that values innovation, inclusion and student access

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• A Level 5 teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards during employment)
• Either a professional qualification in healthcare, or recent experience in Health & Social Care OR a science specialism with a passion for applied learning, especially biology within healthcare.
• Enthusiastic team player approach
• Keen to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals
• Critical thinking to help, encourage questioning and discussions in a classroom environment
• Understands the diverse backgrounds and needs of students
