You'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of technical theatre, working on multiple productions held in our two theatres and various venues across Bristol. This course is designed not only to enhance your individual technical skills but also to offer you hands-on experience within a theatre production team.
Our Level 3 Technical Theatre Arts extended pathway is equivalent to three A-Levels and offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored to aspiring technicians and stagecraft professionals, preparing them for careers in the performing arts industry.
Throughout this course, you will delve into a broad exploration of technical theatre techniques, honing your abilities in lighting design, sound engineering, set design and construction, stage management, audio visual, camera skills and production management. Additionally, you will gain practical experience working on a range of theatrical productions, from classical plays, fashion shows to contemporary musicals, ensuring you are well-rounded in your technical expertise.
As you progress through the programme, you will actively participate in leading on the design and operation of productions each year, both in our two theatres and various other venues throughout Bristol. This hands-on experience not only fosters your personal communication and collaborative skills but also provides invaluable insights into the dynamics of working within a professional theatre production team.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to closely interact with our degree students, immersing yourself in a vibrant technical theatre school environment. This unique setting ensures a rich and immersive learning experience. Notably, you will benefit from a streamlined path to potential future roles within theatre production teams, setting the stage for your continued journey in the world of professional technical theatre arts.
You will also be guaranteed a final-stage interview for any of our degree or professional diploma courses. Additionally, alongside your study programme, you will engage in the Plus+ programme, which is dedicated to developing your personal and social development, further enhancing your growth and readiness for the industry.
Sports academies are available only to applicants aged 16-18.
