Who is it for?
  • Adults aged 19+ working in adult social care in England and new to care.
  • Also ideal for those looking to improve portability of skills, avoid repeat training when changing roles, and support career progression.
  • This qualification will in due course replace the Level 2 Diploma in Care
Who can apply?
  • You must be 19 years or older.
  • You must be working or volunteering in an adult social care setting.

  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Safeguarding Adults & Children
  • Health & Safety + Basic Life Support
  • Handling Information
  • Infection Prevention & Control
  • Learning Disability & Autism Awareness
  • Typically completed in 6-8 months.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Your progress will be assessed on the job, so you can gain a qualification while doing your day-to-day role. Assessment methods include:

  • Workplace-based: observed by a qualified assessor during your normal duties.
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflective accounts
  • Projects or assignments
  • Q&A sessions
  • You’ll also have access to our Smart Assessor online portal
    What can I do next

    Your natural next steps will take you on to a

    • Level 2/3 knowledge-based qualification for a workplace champion position e.g.
      • Understanding Learning Difficulties
      • Autism
      • Demetia Care
      • End of Life Care
      • Safe handling of Medication
      • Mental health Awareness

    and then onto the

    • Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.
