This course is split into five manageable units:

Unit 1: Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties
Learn about the meaning of learning difficulties, the characteristics of different conditions, co-occurring issues, common misconceptions, and the lifelong nature of these difficulties.

Unit 2: Understanding the Effects of Specific Learning Difficulties
Explore how learning difficulties impact individuals and those around them. Gain insight into how others' attitudes can affect individuals and how to identify strengths and barriers they may face.

Unit 3: Understanding the Diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties
Understand the importance of early diagnosis, the consequences of delayed or missed diagnoses, and the process involved in diagnosing SLDs, including the professionals who contribute to this process.

Unit 4: Supporting Individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties
Learn how to support individuals with SLDs in different settings. Discover various coping strategies and assistive technologies that can help in managing specific learning difficulties.

Unit 5: Understanding the Context of Specific Learning Difficulties
Explore the broader context of SLDs, including social, educational, and workplace considerations for those with learning difficulties.

Please note, this is a fully online course and you will be given access to an online portfolio upon successful completion of the initial assessment process.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study, giving you the freedom to choose your learning schedule yourself whilst still gaining certification for your chosen subject.

We recommend spending a minimum of 2-4 hours per week on this course and we recommend completing within 12 weeks.
