Whether you’re building your career or raising awareness, this course is ideal for anyone wanting to understand autism better. It’s perfect for those working in health, social care, education or supporting autistic family, friends or colleagues.

Course Overview:

  1. Autism in Context
    Learn about autism’s history, diagnosis, key traits, relevant laws, and how society views autism.

  2. Positive Behavioural Support
    Understand behaviour in autism, create supportive environments, and explore strategies to encourage positive behaviour.

  3. Managing Transitions
    Learn how to support autistic people through changes, such as moving into adulthood or starting work.

  4. Therapeutic Interventions
    Discover therapies, services, and treatments for autism and related conditions.

  5. Communication and Social Interaction
    Understand how autism affects communication and social interaction, and learn strategies to support these.

  6. Safeguarding and Resilience
    Learn how to safeguard autistic people, promote wellbeing, and understand when restrictive practices might be needed.

Please note, this is a fully online course and you will be given access to an online portfolio upon successful completion of the initial assessment process.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Studying via distance learning means you can choose when and where you study, giving you the freedom to choose your learning schedule yourself whilst still gaining certification for your chosen subject.

We recommend spending a minimum of 4-6 hours per week on this course and we recommend completing within 20 weeks.

We appreciate this may be a new way of learning for many of you or there may be some further support required. If you find yourself feeling less than confident and look for additional support, we want to make sure we are there to offer that little bit extra and tailor it to your needs. This may include a phone call or emails with one of our dedicated tutors and support staff to help guide you through your course.

What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

This is a Level 3 qualification and a reasonable level of written English is beneficial to completing.
