Unwind, explore your creativity, and discover the joy of mosaic-making in this relaxing and supportive part-time course. Designed to enhance your well-being and self-confidence, this course invites you to create your own beautiful mosaic plaque for display on a table or wall. Using a mix of upcycled crockery and vibrant ceramic tiles, you will develop your own unique design while learning the fascinating history and techniques behind this ancient art form.

Course content
You will learn how to plan and create a mosaic piece using a wide range of materials, from colourful broken tiles to reclaimed ceramics. The course covers design development, cutting and shaping techniques, tile placement, grouting, and finishing. You will also explore the cultural and historical context of mosaics to deepen your creative understanding. Each session provides a calming space for expression and growth, with a focus on building confidence, creativity, and personal achievement.
How is the course delivered and assessed?
The course is taught in a warm, inclusive classroom environment with practical, hands-on sessions. Your tutor will offer group instruction, demonstrations, and one-to-one support tailored to your needs. There is no formal assessment - your progress is measured by your personal development, creative outcomes, and enjoyment of the process.
What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)
No previous experience is needed. This course is open to adults aged 19 and over and is ideal for anyone seeking to improve their well-being through creativity. As a funded wellbeing course, you may enrol in one course per term (excluding online courses). Participants may self-refer or be referred by a health or support professional.

During your first session, your tutor will meet with you individually to discuss any support needs and ensure your learning experience is positive and inclusive. If you have a support worker or health condition that we should be aware of, please let us know - additional courses may be available to better suit your needs. Enrolment for future dates is announced at the end of each term, both online and through your course tutor.
