The Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Business is designed to help learners develop the foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to progress in education, training, or employment. The programme provides a broad introduction to key vocational areas while developing essential personal, professional, and employability skills.
Learners will study a Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies, undertaking units in Business, Digital, and Hospitality & Tourism. The course also provides opportunities to develop independence, resilience, and a positive growth mindset through project-based learning, career-focused activities, and work experience.

A good understanding of English and Maths is essential for future progression and employment. Learners enrolled on this course will study English and Maths as part of their overall programme if they have not yet achieved the required grades.
Learners will be enrolled onto appropriate English and Maths qualifications, including GCSE programmes where applicable, to support them in achieving the next grade and improving their future opportunities.
Alongside a positive attitude and willingness to learn, learners should typically possess a minimum of GCSE Grade 2 or 3 in both English and Maths.
All learners will complete an initial English and Maths assessment at the start of the programme to help identify their starting points and support needs.
Learners who successfully complete the Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Business will be eligible to progress onto a Level 2 programme within a vocational area across the college. The qualification also supports progression into further study, training, and preparation for future employment opportunities.
