About the course

Join our Summer Stained Glass School, an intensive and enjoyable 5-day course. Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience, this course is suitable for students of all abilities. Learn the process of creating a leaded stained-glass panel, from designing to cutting and shaping glass, kiln fired glass painting, leading, soldering, cementing, and finishing.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
During the Summer Stained Glass School, our experienced tutor will provide demonstrations and offer one-to-one support. You will receive guidance throughout the course, allowing you to develop your skills and create your own stained-glass masterpiece. The course is designed to provide an immersive and supportive learning experience, enabling you to gain hands-on experience in various techniques.
About the tutor
Ruth Adams has taught fired stained-glass painting at Central Saint Martins, where she previously completed her postgraduate studies in glass with distinction. She taught stained glass for ten years at the City Literary Institute in Central London. Ruth relocated to Stroud, where she works as a practicing artist, and she set up the glass department within Stroud School of Art at SGS. She is a respected educator within this field, with an enormous amount of experience and enthusiasm to help you engage with this fantastic subject.
What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year

Whether you're starting your stained glass journey or looking to further enhance your skills, this course is open to all. Come with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, and our tutor will provide the necessary guidance and support to help you succeed.

Additional information

It is recommended to bring a notebook/sketchbook to record your ideas, and don't forget to wear a protective shirt/apron and shoes that fully cover your feet.

Please also remember to bring a packed lunch and a drink with you.
