Course content

Professional Textile Printing

You will be introduced to a variety of professional textile printing methods including:

  • Textile screen printing
  • Dye sublimation printing
  • Digital print techniques
  • Flocking and foiling
  • Garment and fabric printing

You’ll explore how to take an idea from sketch to fabric, learn how to create repeat patterns, and experiment with colour, texture, and layering. By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of fabric samples and the option to produce a small item such as a cushion, bag, or simple garment.

How is the course delivered and assessed?
This course is delivered in a supportive, workshop-based setting with expert guidance from your tutor. Each week includes live demonstrations, informal discussion, and individual project time. There is no formal assessment; instead, you’ll receive regular feedback and encouragement as you develop your work.
About the tutor
Your tutor, Mike Griffin, is a textile artist and designer with a degree in Fashion and Print from Central Saint Martins. With experience as a lecturer and a current role as a Senior Print Technician, Mike brings a rich understanding of contemporary textile processes and will support you with technical skill, creative inspiration, and industry insight.
What do I need to join
No prior experience is required. This course is open to all abilities and is suitable for those with an interest in textiles, print, fashion or surface design. All you need is a willingness to learn and explore new techniques.
Additional information
A range of textile materials will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own fabrics or garments to personalise your work. Please bring a sketchbook or notebook for recording ideas. No specialist equipment is needed - just your enthusiasm and interest in textiles.
