Welcome to the one-day introduction to Kiln Fired Stained Glass Painting! In this workshop, you'll delve into the fascinating world of using Tracing and Shading paint to enhance your stained glass creations. Throughout the day, you'll master essential techniques such as tracing line work with brushes and pen nibs, blending shading and matting paint, and exploring brushwork, mark making, and sgraffito techniques.

Moreover, you'll gain insights into crucial aspects like health and safety practices, understanding firing temperatures, and setting up the kiln for optimal results. Whether you're a beginner seeking an entry point into the captivating realm of glass painting or looking to expand your repertoire of Stained Glass skills, this workshop offers an ideal opportunity to learn and grow.

About the tutor
Ruth Adams has taught fired stained-glass painting at Central Saint Martins, where she previously completed her postgraduate studies in glass with distinction. She taught stained glass for ten years at the City Literary Institute in Central London. Ruth relocated to Stroud, where she works as a practicing artist. Ruth also set up the glass department within Stroud School of Art at SGS College. She is a respected educator within this field, with an enormous amount of experience and enthusiasm to help you engage with this fantastic subject.
What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

Applicants must be at least 19 years of age at the start of the academic year.

Ideal for beginners and those wanting to develop their skills.

Additional information

Materials are included with the course fees including templates to work from on the day. However, feel free to bring along any sketches or drawings you'd like to incorporate into your creations. It's helpful to photocopy these in advance for easy reference.

Don't forget to pack a lunch to keep you fueled throughout the day!
