SGS College celebrates the achievement of its Project SEARCH cohort, with all six interns graduating from Amazon UK and moving into permanent employment within the organisation.

SGS College celebrates employment success for all Project SEARCH graduates at Amazon UK

Project SEARCH is a one-year study programme delivered by SGS College in partnership with host employer Amazon UK, supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to transition from education into employment through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on work experience.

Interns are fully immersed in the workplace, spending part of each day developing employability skills with an SGS College teacher alongside practical experience supported by a dedicated job coach. Over the course of the programme, they complete three 12-week rotations across different departments, gaining the skills and experience needed to progress into employment.

The interns, Rafi, Lauren, Courtney, Kallum, Harry and Jack, have completed a year-long supported internship based at Amazon UK, where they have developed valuable workplace skills and experience across multiple departments. Their achievements reflect a year of hard work, dedication and commitment to achieving their goal of paid employment.

A graduation ceremony held at Amazon UK last week, marked the end of the programme, providing a moving opportunity for each intern to reflect on their journey. During the event, all six learners delivered speeches about their experiences, sharing the challenges they have overcome and the skills they have gained along the way.

Throughout the programme, the interns impressed managers with their professionalism, enthusiasm and determination, making a strong contribution across their placements.

Rafi, Lauren and Courtney will take up roles within the Pick department, where they select items from robotic pods and prepare them for shipping. Kallum, Harry and Jack will work in Receive, processing incoming deliveries and preparing items before they move through to the Stow department.

Courtney, Project SEARCH graduate, said:

“When I started at Project SEARCH, I felt anxious as I didn’t know what the people would be like. But everyone has been really nice. I’ve really enjoyed the programme, especially my rotation in Receive. It feels great to have completed the programme.”

Kallum, Project SEARCH graduate, said:

“This programme pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me develop skills I can use every day. I can’t wait to pursue my career at Amazon, and I am so happy that I secured the job.”

Catherine Stargatt, Project SEARCH Programme Tutor at SGS College:

“I am incredibly proud of the fantastic Project SEARCH interns 2026 who have graduated from the programme and will soon be starting their employment with Amazon UK. Over the past year, this group have persevered with their end goal of getting a job, maintained excellent attendance and time keeping, and faced every challenge with positivity and enthusiasm. Each of them truly deserves to work for this fantastic organisation. I wish them all the success in their permanent roles.”

The success of this year’s cohort highlights the impact of strong partnerships between education and industry, and SGS College’s ongoing commitment to supporting learners into meaningful careers.
