SGS College recently hosted the annual National Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) Conference at its WISE Campus on 10th June, bringing together DiSE partners and more than 50 elite coaches from 9 National Governing Bodies of Sport.

As a national education training provider for the DiSE programme, SGS works in partnership with national sporting governing bodies to support the development of talented athletes alongside their academic studies, playing a key role in delivering this prestigious national initiative.

The event provided an opportunity to share innovative ideas, inspirational and effective coaching techniques, and highlight best practice in athlete development and DiSE delivery.

Lisa Godwin, Director of DiSE, described the conference as a:

“hugely successful and inspiring occasion”

She recognised the five presenters and representatives from UK Coaching and SportsAid for showcasing the exceptional expertise, knowledge and commitment amongst the national DiSE network.

The conference reinforced the strength of collaboration within the programme and created valuable opportunities for coaches and partners to learn from one another, enhancing the support provided to talented young athletes.

Looking ahead, key priorities for the DiSE programme include supporting and celebrating the 2024–26 cohort as they complete their studies, as well as supporting current first-year athletes as they progress into their second year and welcoming a new cohort starting in September.

DiSE will also play a role in supporting the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month.
