About the course

The CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma comprises eight modules analysing elements of procurement practice and business theory. The module covered in this schedule is: L5M4 - Those involved in the formulation and management of contracts with external suppliers must have a detailed understanding of the strategic nature of contractual performance measures in procurement and supply. Financial management refers to the efficient and effective management of money (funds) necessary to accomplish organisational and associated procurement and supply objectives. On completion of this module, learners will be able to develop financial measures to manage and improve contract performance. Learners will be introduced to the concepts and use of contract and financial management as a means to support effective strategic sourcing.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

Each module is assessed by examination – Modules 1 & 4 each culminate in a 3-hour essay exam, while the other modules each finish with a 90-minute multiple-choice style exam. Candidates will need to join CIPS as student members to be allowed to sit the exams. Classes are delivered one-day per week, on Wednesdays, through a combination of on-line and on-site delivery at the Filton campus. These are also streamed via Teams and recorded.

What do I need to join (Entry Requirements)

To join the course, you require a good level of Maths & English. You will also need to have an interest in the topics discussed. The study level is equivalent to second--year degree/HND studies and is suitable for those already in the Procurement industry, ideally, already holding the Level 4 Diploma. Whilst it is permissible to begin studying towards Level 5 before completing Level 4, CIPS will only acknowledge achievement at Level 5 when ALL Level 4 modules are already successfully completed.
